Systems Administrator

Electra Services is a wholly owned subsidiary business of Electra Limited headquartered in Levin but operating nationally. We are a dynamic company that operates in the market under the Securely brand, with focus across 3 main areas:

You'll be managing a network of servers and systems to ensure all customers receive reliable and uninterrupted user access, provide reports on system performance and day-to-day administration. Handling incoming queries, juggling multiple tasks at hand and working within a stellar team.

Besides knowing the names of every Marvel character out there, or an avid Network Gamer, your will be able to do the following in your sleep:

  • Installing and configuring software, hardware and networks
  • Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
  • Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
  • Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Maintain DRP, BCP, and redundancy strategies
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
  • Provide 1st and 2nd level support
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Several years proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
  • Experience with databases (SQL), networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
  • Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl or other language preferred
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Solid Cloud experience
  • Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)
  • Experience with monitoring systems
  • Experience with automation software (e.g., Puppet, Docker, cfengine, Chef)
  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
